Hi, There seems to be a smallish leak from a plate on my transfer box. The plate is about 5x8 inches and has 10 studs securing it and the studs at the bottom are covered in oil. When I first notice it I gave them a bit of a clean then the leak seemed to stop for a couple of days but once I had taken it out for a short drive the leak has started again. Does anyone have any idea what this might be and if it is serious?

Yes it's a leak and no it's not serious unless it's so bad you don't have any oil left in. I'd live with it it's called character.

you might stop by nippin the nuts up BUT dint over do it otherwise they'll break then you'll have a proper leak

If yer gonna nip the nuts up - undo 'em a quarter turn first and then tighten 'em, just in case someone else has tried tightening 'em before you.

Cheers,

id be torquing em up wiv a torque wrench , if you crack the tranny box casing your pretty screwed.
drain the box , whip off the plate ,drink a cuppa, new gasket and torque it back up.
job done.

Yeah, I'd go fer the new gasket option if yer want to do anything about it at all. I've never yet nipped a nut up & stopped a leak yet, bust a couple though!

follow nobber and marcus advice. just change the gasket. make sure the mating surfaces are clean though or you will still end up with a leak after it all!

i leaks after you drive about because the ep90 gets warm and thins. so it must only be a small leak.

only change it if it bothers you, otherwise just check the fluid levels and top up when ness.

Thanks for all the help it doesn't bother me but like I said before I have just spent a fortune getting a new engine fitted and I really don't want another huge bill!! Thanks Again
