Does anyone know whether the ECU firmware was continually updated over the life of the TD5?

I have a stock map file that I will be installing back into my 2004 Defender, but it is from 2002 (It comes from the Nanocom Map Wizard).

I was wondering whether there were more recent versions available?

Any help would be appreciated.

Tom the Nanocom map wizard has all standard fuel files they are the latest editions of each file. I have attached a doc which describes how the file name is configured.
You Defender has two fuel files available dependent on ECU installed if the
ECU is NNN00012 the file is sthle022 sttlp009
ECU is NNN500020 the file is sthle022 stlp010.

Fuel Tune ID:

This code is made up from 5 letters followed by 3 numerical digits and is
stored in the fuel tune data area. It uniquely identifies this specific fuel tune data map and the vehicle.
For Flash programmable type ECU's the five letters of the fuel tune ID code denote application usage as follows:
Engine, S = Storm 5 cylinder diesel engine.
Gearbox, V or T = Manual, W or U = Automatic.
Model, L = Defender, D = Disco, H = unknown.
Tune state D, L, X, N or O denotes Tune type.
Market E = European, R = ROW, J = Japan, K = Korean.
For Non flash programmable type ECU's the first five letters of the fuel tune ID code denoteapplication usage as follows:

suhde=DISCOVERY/AUTOMATIC/EUROPEAN
sumdj = DISCOVERY/AUTOMATIC/JAPANESE
surdk = DISCOVERY/AUTOMATIC/KOREAN
suhdr = DISCOVERY/AUTOMATIC/ROW
sthde = DISCOVERY/MANUAL/EUROPEAN
sthdr = DISCOVERY/MANUAL/ROW
suhle=DEFENDER/AUTOMATIC/EUROPEAN
sthle=DEFENDER/MANUAL/EUROPEAN
sttde=DISCOVERY/MANUAL/EUROPEAN NOSELECT = VEHICLE TYPE/MARKET NOT SET
(this should only occur on new ECU's)
For both ECU types the last 3 digits represents a version number.

I took my 2005 TD5 in to Land Rover to have the ECU reset due to a bad remap.

Afterwards it was so much smoother, better than it ever had been before the remap.

I assumed it was because later software had been installed.

It could have been a later edition of software but most likely just a re-install of the original map.

I went into my Land Rover dealer to ask about this last year... They didn't have the software anymore to do this in my case

Hi there, newbie from NZ here. the ECU (NNN500020) in my 2003 Td5 Defender 130 HCPU stopped working/communicating with the world. I have now sourced a new (reconditioned) NNN500020 and the vehicle is a runner again, however the engine isn't sounding quite right, and i suspect the mapping isn't correct. I've bought a nanocom so i can re-load the stock Map, however I'm now having some issues determining exactly what the stock map is (and where i get a copy)!

The nanocom map wizard, only covers defender 90s & 110s, but i would assume the heavier 130 has a different Map although i haven't seen any mention of one anywhere?

Can anyone give me some guidance on what the correct stock Map file is for 130?

l think they were all the same. The injectors are coded so if you replace the ECU without extracting the codes from the old ECU it probably won't run quite as well as it should.
