Looking for contact details for a reliable transport company in west midlands to move a Series III swb to Aberdeen, Scotland.
Have contacted several through google, so far the responses have ranged from the sublime 'we only do classic's' to the ridiculous 'our tarriff will be more than the value of the vehicle Sir!'
Must be somebody out there looking for business?

Could this be a SIII relay up the UK? Get it on a trailer and then if anyone in here can do a leg of it let us know.

I would offer to do the last leg for some fuel money but I am in the States till September.

I don't mind paying for the transport, just need door to door. My dearly bewildered thinks I've bought a two door soft top, so it will be a surprise when a swb with dodgy tilt get's delivered:D ..........I'm stuck in Oman till September otherwise I'd go get it.

i know of a car transporter firm that might do it for yer but i cant get hold of em till monday

Once again have a look on ebay in the cars for sale section. There are loads of firms doing just what you want I think they generally charge about a quid a mile:)

Will it be a nice surprise for her?

So if people are prepared to relay it up the country to you, or take it up in 1 go or whatever, what would you look at doing hiring a trailer, buying one, borrowing one?

How much did ya get quoted anyway? You'd be looking at a quid a mile and that's a lot of miles;)

Quoted from £700 to £1200, so I am leaning towards purchasing a trailer now. If I can find something at a decent price in the Midlands then I would consider nipping back to do collection myself. Still looking for one more Series III so it would be useful bit of kit to have.

You can add best part of another 100 miles on for the road journey, you'll never get even close to the crow's route.

When do you need it moving?

I had also figured another 100 to account for the excuse of a road network system north of the border. Anytime after Thursday this week would be good, not looking for next day delivery or express courier, I just need to get it out of sellers way.

Cheapest commercial offer was £425 and has been accepted, thanks for the various options and pointers from forum members.:)
