Hi,

I just replaced my bulkhead and wings, i had removed the battery earth strap and connot remember where it should be connected to the body.

Any help would be great

Mine (a 2.25 diesel) was connected onto one of the supports of the battery holder / platform thingy. Basically just a hole drilled through the support and bolted on.

Depends how good his connection between the body and the chassis is . A lot of the dash stuff is earthed through the bulkhead.

Mine is earthed to the engine block and the radiator support bracket - definitely not standard, but it works. As the engine sits on rubber mounts, it sort of makes sense to provide a good return from the starter motor via the block.

Mine is connected to the bottom of the battery tray, which in turn is connected to the chassis.
I believe this to be the norm.
Provided that it is a good clean secure connection you will br OK...

mine bolts on directly to the chassis right next to the clutch slave cylinder
works fine

mine is connected to the pate in front of the rad. as long as it is clean then it is good.

I would add a second earth strap to the chassis from engine if not got one already as the engine and gearbox sits on rubber mounts

OK. So the earth strap from the battery bolts to the housing for the radiator. Maybe the engine earth should go there instead of direct to the battery? Looking at my ‘71 Spitfire the only connection from the negative post of the battery is to the body.
