Well, after god knows how long sitting on the drive waiting to skin my knuckles and bruise my limbs, the Disco finally got pushed into the garage to find out what the issue is with no engine spinning with the starter.

It's a long story, but after much head scratching as to what the noise was (rattle/squeak type racket) and then the starter spinning but not the engine, I managed to get to the bottom of it......

So, on to the Ashcroft site to order me a new Flex plate

A relatively cheap fix but an absolute Bi**h to do!! Gerabox back 2", engine forward 3", just enough room to get my digits in there to undo the bolts. Torque converter is still in place so hopefully no nasty oil pump suprises

Hope to have her running in the very near future. Just need to sort out plates for the front sill body mounts now

Discos, just gotta love 'em!

are you sure t/c is still engaged in oil pump it only sit in 1cm ish but will be still located on shaft when pump drive isnt

I wasn't aware it was only that amount of movement needed to pop out

It didn't seem to move when I pulled the 'box back, but how can I be 100% sure? I have tried turning the TC and it seems to have the sort of resistance I would expect from turning the oil pump.

I have the link to the Ashcroft site that gives the gap for the TC to bell housing edge, but not sure if I can see the GB number to get the correct measurement.

t/c depth would tell you ,since its still engaged on shaft it does have the feel of resistance as still splined to stator and shaft

Bit of a sod to get to, but with a torch and mirror I managed to get the plate number - '748', which according to Ashcroft's chart means I should have 18mm between bellhousing face and TC mounts. looks about that but I'll measure later to be 100%, certainly doesn't look 10mm out.

Might as well reapir the front sill body mounts while I'm waiting for the new flexi plate :(
