Hi all,

My Disco came with only one key fob, and the case buttons are starting to disintegrate..

Do the flip key style cases work ok with the guts from the old one , and are there any now that are held together with screws instead of glue?

Also, here's a pic of my existing key. Is it an original or aftermarket, and do you think it would pry apart ok, or need cutting open?

Now for the second key.. If I buy a used key from the wreckers, can it be reprogrammed for use with my car?

Are the frequencies different for different regions / countries. Mine is a Middle East spec.

Thanks.

1. yes the internals in the D3 style flip casing would work, if you change your mind there are cheap normal casings on ebay

2. as long as it's a D2 key(rover 75 works but not perfect) and for the 433mhz range(Europe) it can be programmed to your BCU without probs...

Ok, thanks.

Is the reprogramming just button pressing on the fob, or do I need to take it somewhere with a diagnostic?

I was planning on buying the used D2 fob from a wrecker in the UK, and the flip casings from EBay.

Perhaps you should confirm the frequency u are using in your part of the world first. :)

That's exactly what I was trying to do here first.... Is there a reference, or some other way of knowing which it is?
just tell us where are you from and i'll tell you what frequency you need...or is it a secret? ...then find out yourself:rolleyes:
