I should be getting my lockers for the defender this week so im gonna need somewhere to test them out all weekend. just had a quick look on the byway map and theres an incredible amount of lanes around salisbury. I was wondering if they're any good and still legal, is it worth the 2 hour trip over there?

You shouldnt be testing them on green lanes, it is far too wet for laning at the moment. If you want to test them P&P is the way to go.

If you need lockers on a lane, with the exception of maybe step rocky steps, you shouldn't be driving them.

Yes there's a lot of BOATs around there. Many of them on MOD land, some with all weather surfaces and others with seasonal TROs on.

The police have been giving out fines for driving off legal routes

It's very wet and general advice is stay off any of the more fragile lanes until it dries up some.

It's worth noting that not all lanes are legal at all times of the year, just for the OPs benefit

Fine on steep rocky steps but not to get traction on saturated ground!

I see what you're saying, the lockers will just ruin the route if they're used. Guess I'll have to wait for better weather to head over that way then.

Yeah, also you don't want to get a tug from the law if you stray by mistake.

To be fair lockers used properly can reduce damage but saturated chalk soil isn't the place to test that out.

Not so much that the lockers themselves will ruin the ground, but if the ground is so wet you need lockers, it will make ruts anyway! ;) :)

Lockers are fine, you will like them, but try them out at P&P first, then go laning when weather conditions have improved! :)
