I sometimes get sucked down the YouTube wormhole of "Street Side Manufacturing". Forging brakes discs from scrap oil drums, children packing fireworks, turning great crank shafts on a 1950's lathe with no guards or whatever. It's certainly resourcful, but marching around with a bucket of molten steel wearing only open toe'd safety sandals and thick blankets as protection must restult in horrific injuries.

I saw one once where a guy was man handling a great length of steel between sets of rollers, and after each pass another guy threw a bucket of water over him to keep him cooled down. Hard work doesn't really cover it!
