Truck was driving fine then all of a sudden I got flashing M and S lights and she is now stuck in 3rd gear. I'm assuming it's a fault with the xyz switch?
It's a 52 plate auto.

can be 15 things, the XYZ switch or it's wiring is one of the most common but to be certain you'll have to plug in a dedicated tester and read the fault code stored in the transmission ECU

I left it 12 hours and it had cleared itself so I took it home (25 miles) and it went back into limp mode again!

As said earlier,unless you get the codes read,you will never know what is causing the problem,good luck.
