Hi guys!

Alately i have noticed that the back end of the p38 has been squatting down when i see it first thing in a morning when left over night.

I start the engine and the eas is pumping the ride hieght to 'normal' and takes at least 6 mins!

I just had the eas unlock software on and checked for faults (Engine running)

The following faults came up.

Could anyone please interpret the data a tell me whats wrong? Never had anything to do with this part of the rangie not not familiar to me.....
I can see the 'valves are suck' but what valves are they??

If the arse end is sitting down you will have a leak in the rear bags or lines. If the car takes six minutes to rise you will have a leak in the storage side. Get your bottle of soapy water out and check the system. All the faults are because there is no air pressure and things have not happened as ECU expected. Also check compressor output that maybe down.

Cheers Wammers,

I checked the front airbags with soapy spray (where the airlines go in) The Valve block and the areas around the compresser.

No leaks there. I Ran out of time (And started wizzing it down) to check the back end. But will get out and check the rest in the morning mate.

When you say the 'Storage side' do you mean the air tank?

All Airbags are in very good condition as i did them all last year....

Well you have a leak somewhere. Yeah storage side is from Violet pipe in valveblock to tank. Could be you need to look at valve block NRV1 could be leaking. If the valve block has never been done, it maybe a good time to do it. It takes away a possibility if nothing else.
 
That list of faults suggests you don't have good comunication with the EAS. Clear the faults and re-read them. You should have a green box that say's "Good Idle" if communication is OK.
If the back is squatting down and it takes 6 minutes to rise, as Wammers said, you have an air leak.

Indeed Keith, having four valves stuck open and closed at the same time would suggest that.

In the mean time ill look up refurbing the valve block!

Is it straight forward enough to do?

As long as you remember to mark the solenoids up for position. They MUST go back where they came from. Look at www.rangerovers.net for pictures of strip to follow.

You need to be clean and methodical but it's quite easy. You need to check for white powder contamination from the dryer dessicant breaking up.
If you are nervous, I can do you a tested exchange unit:)

Well thats been a bit wiered......

Just to conclude,

I left my boot lid unshut in order to stop the rangie self leveling through the night. That way I would be able to descover which (if any) airbags are leaking.

Woke up, looked outside to see that the rear o/s corner had dropped very very slightly. Which would suggest very little air had leaked through the night.

Even so, I still went round the whole eas bits and bobs with the soap spray, again no leaks found....

The air has been 'as it should', not having to wait until normal ride height is reached (Took at least 5 mins before) Which is bizzare.

The only thing i can sugest is, each time i have made short jurneys the air in the tank had not fully built up and each jurney taking a little bit out each time...

Oh well at least its sorted. Thanks for all your previous suggestions, they are much appreciated!

I could be wrong, but I don't think leaving the bonnet (hood) unlatched or up, prevents the self leveling....I think it will still self level with it open....

Best to disconnect the delay timer under the seat, that way you can still have all the doors and tail closed, and the EAS self leveling disabled....
 
Correct Ant. Bonnet switch is not connected to EAS system. Only to alarm circuit.:)

The scarey thing is I am in my very early 30's...if it is this bad now...christ knows what I'll be like when I am get older...!!!

I am so sorry for the mistake...but I was still correct and thats what matters....:D:D:D:):):p

Well, Saint said having bonnet open would not cause EAS lockup. I agreed with him. Anyway i claim insanity old age as an excuse.
