The heated screen on my FL1 is totally unpredictable!!

At first only 4 very thin strips would clear on the passenger side of the screen so I took off the plenum the other day and cleaned/copper greased both of the earth points then tested it an it was still the same.

Today however the entire screen apart from 3 very thin areas on the passenger side cleared perfectly!!!!!

I am wondering what this could be....Does it sound like the relay?

It's the screen itself. If it was a relay then it would either work or not. Only the elements in the screen breaking down can cause parts to heat and others not.

Sod that !!

Get yourself some more quotes, try some smaller local windscreen companies.

Then, and no I'm not being silly, get a quote from your local L.R. dealer to supply a screen. You might get a pleasant surprise and it might give you a bargaining tool when talking to the fitting companies.

All assuming that you haven't got glass cover in your insurance, in which case just wait until it gets cracked and you can have a new screen for the cost of your glass excess.
 
Dont let anyone slam the front door too hard - it might crack the windscreen like mine did, had to fork out £75 excess for a new one ;)
