On my freelander TD4 05 Deisel, when I made a sharp turn at speed I would get quite a lot of noise feedback from the right wheel. I looked under the bonnet and saw the steering rack has been crushing this insulated pipe behind the engine in the below pictures to shreds! I think it's the turbo hose but could be wrong.

I have since taken the metal insulated wrap off, and tucked the hose out of the way of the rack which has stopped the noise when turning. Will this be ok or will I need to wrap the hose back up?

I thought I had fixed this however I am still getting the knocking noise when i turn hard right at slow speed!

Also getting a bang underneath the car which I had originally thought was the turbo kicking in however I read somewhere that this could be a related issue to the knocking?

Don't know for sure but I'd take a look at your engine mounts, if only to rule them out.

With the pipe... i have exactly the same issue. It's a coolant pipe and the foil is there to protect it from the heat coming from the turbo / exhaust manifold.
The problem I have is.... my unskilled nephews did the biggest bodge job when they swapped the engine in the freelander for my dad, and I could really do with knowing how this pipe should be correctly routed.
when I say I have this problem..... It actually one of many problems..... For the entertainment value alone, take a read of my other posts.... If you can help... Please please do so.

My MOT guy pointed this out to me the other day, it IS a water pipe (under the foil) which can also get worn and probably best to see to it now before it wears away and drops all your coolant on the floor.

What holds this pipe in place?
After trying to put a car back together someone else stripped..... i fear parts are missing that I need - such as a bracket of some sort.
there is a M8 captivated nut near to this pipe.... should a bracket hold this pipe to this nut???
