Ok having to use a garage. Due to leg injury. Land rover specialist so not cheapest but most trustable.

Symptoms are smells of diesel, thirsty, noisy pump, difficult to start.

So start with fuel pressure regulator, what else do we think? FPR is definate, possible pump, possible washers.

So what does everyone think?

They remember me when I said ACE rebuild
 
I may well be mixed up with something else, but isn't it the TD5 that has a plastic connector on the fuel tank pump fitting that can crack?

Not sure but it is leaking and air is getting in.

oh and according to the owner of the place D5 is crap tow car. He had to dePX to his D4
