Hi all, I think Ive got an oil leak from my head gasket,on my 2.5tdi, its booked in the local garage tomorrow any idea how much it will cost if I need a new one?

Oil leak? is it causing a problem or just an inconvenience from dropping oil? More likely to be rocker cover gasket especially if its a 300TDi. I just had my head gasket done by a local independent for £167 + VAT

Holdsworth has gone bust. One of his mechanics (dark haired guy with goatee) has set up on his own over the road and seems to be OK.

I was quoted £600 +vat for head gasket and £250+ vat for new rad.Froggarts in Maclesfield.Think they were trying to take the ****.

ffs - do it yerself, iss a pretty simple job.

You can do it yourself but I found the torque/ angular gauge settings a bit difficult.

Alright, no need to rub it in. I had a go didn't I?. The instructions in the Haynes book must have been wrong!
