Hi mateys, I've got 2 holes in my battery box base, I'm thinking of putting some aluminium chequer plate in the bottom and bolting it down. My question is will it pass the MOT like that or will it need welding. I don't want to waxoyl until it's right of course.

I did a similar thing, I just put a thin galvanised iece of plate approx 1mm thick in the bottom of the box and then pop riveted it down

passed mot

(passed the year before too though with a few holes in it!!)

As long as the battery box is secure, I can't see a couple of holes being an MOT fail

dont use ali!!it wont last long if any acid hits it!

Might be wrong, but thought the original battery box was ali?

usually sides and bottom are steel
