Mates clutch pedal seems to have a lot of play and is sitting higher than the brake pedal. Is there a reason for this? The clutch works fine though. Any advice would be appreciated.:confused: Freelander 1 TD4.
 
yeah sort of you have to take the air cleaner oft on mine

what engine is it?

Can also mean that the clutch it self has excessive wear in it. Check for slipping clutch by putting on the hand brake put it in either second or third gear and slowly lift the pedal it should do one of two things either stall = clutch ok for now. engine does not stall until you reach top = clutch wear.

Yup, will do. He said the clutch wasn't slipping but will post results. Cheers now.
 
Read the bit about the broken circlip. Presumably the Master cylinder is fixed to the servo unit and to replace the circlip will mean removing the whole unit, including the servo. Is this correct anyone? Thanks.
 
mines tie wrapped onto the bracket and has been fine all the time i've had it, so i left it alone.

i did find the plaggy circlip thing in the sump tray, though, a year after i got it

it's a sealed system on mine the reservoir is fixed to the bulkhead, the master cylinder is on the foot pedal and the slave is fixed near the bellhousing.

Thanks for that freelaner, so the pedal and servo will both require removal to sort the circlip?
 
Hopefully its nothing to do with the slave cylinder as this is inside the gearbox bell housing on a TD4 - gearbox off job :eek:
