anything anyone can tell me to look out for would be a help!! Its a 2000 w 1.8 petrol. I think its a millenium edition? seems to be quite a nice drive. any suggested appreciated!! Cheers, Russ

hia mate welcome to the forum
but you should have asked us before you bought it
the 1.8 petrol freelander is by far the worst land rover EVER build.
they have regular head gasket failure due to not having a proper hg, the viscous unit is expensive to fix, and there crap off road, and the doors fall off if you get them wet
other than that there ok

has it been checked by someone who knows freelanders?
keep an eye one the IRD, VCU, headgasket, doors, electrics, rear diff, rear window that drops when you open the door..............
personally i wouldn't buy one unless it was silly cheap and came with a series so i could get to work if it rained or when the freelander broke down

don't worry most freelander owners go on to lead happy normal lives
until they break their freelander again..... oh yeah and they have got themselves the tag GAYlander due to them looking like a hairdressers car next to a series or defender
Taking the **** is what this forum runs on, It may seem a little (fooking loads) different to other forums.

Its not going to be used for any 'offroading'..its my 'winter' car. Was going to have the rear prop shaft removed to preserve the rear diff thing? I know a little about HGF having had 3 MG 'sports cars', so not too worried about that. But, I suppose everything else is going to fall to bits?
