Hello, Im seriously considering a 200TDi Disco ( my first 4x4) & thought it prudent to join the forum to try & get an insight before I part with any cash.
 
HI and welcome.

What sort of money are you thinking of spending. £1k will get you a disco1 that'll probably need welding and or gearbox problems. £2k will get you a early series II disco,
 
Thanks for the reply, 1.5 - 2K & something around M or N reg I was hoping for.
A car dealer I know has an M reg 3 door for about a grand but I havent the cash till July so I may well miss that one

Take someone who knows about disco's they're prone to rot at the rear and round the seatbelt mounts, Make sure you remove the carpet in the rear load area and check the floor.
 
Also front passenger wells around the bulkhead need checking. If you can get any back issues of LRM, project shoestring which they started last summer was an £800 Disco I and they've completely rebuilt it to make it like new for as little money as possible. They also had problems with the inner wings around the O/S headlight if I recall...
 
Well the car dealer is trying to take 3.7K out of me for the R plate 300 auto he has ( probably worth it forecourt price) but I dont plan on topping 1.5k so maybe buying a 200 off here would be the better option
