Is there anyone near Leeds willing to look at an electrical short for me? I’m happy to pay for your time and hopefully learn something along the way. Someone recommend an auto electrician in Bradford but he didn’t want to look at the short and just changed an indicator relay and soldered the key fobs.
The problem is that the alarm doesn’t work but the immobiliser does, the sounder is disconnected in the wing. When the indicators were on the trailer light would flash on the dash so the relay was changed to a 4 pin relay to bypass this.
It’s been like this since I bought it (52 reg 110) and was blissful in my ignorance until at the weekend I managed to arm the alarm while getting out of the vehicle and when I got back in I triggered it but all I could hear was a relay clicking. I but the hazards on and the horn started to honk. If the alarm is physically okay and not working due to a short I’d like to get it fixed.
If anyone in Yorkshire who help I would much appreciate it and pay for your time. I’ve tried the auto electrician route but I think I need an enthusiast.

I'm too far away to look at this, but it sounds a little like a lost earth rather than a short.

If it was a short, there would be fuses blowing.

The fact of the horn sounding when the hazards are on sounds like current finding an alternative path back (in this case through the horn)

good luck though

Thanks for the reply. That makes more sense. Anyone know the indicator/alarm earth points :D

You need to pop this in the "fender" section.

You will get a bigger audience. :)
