Hi, I jumped in my 200tdi this morning, not used for a couple of weeks, and the clutch pedal has no pressure at all.

I can engage gears but no drive, I guess the clutch or cyclinder or something has failed.

I need to find someone good and local to fix it.

I have seen a land rover around town with the name "nick shurrock autos" on it, I think he might be able to help, but I cant find his number anywhere.

Or can anybody else suggest anyone local?

Clearly I cant drive it.

Is there anything simple I can check? Its odd because it did not fail while being driven, last time I drove it it was fine.

just also checked the small top up chamber on the clutch and that appears to be empty.

Any ideas what this might mean or what I can do?

youve got a leak ,either little one over time or sudden one ,you should check weekly,check to see if theres clutch fluid around clutch pedal if there is its master cylinder leaking ,if you remove slave cylinder and it is wet around and behind rubber seal its leaking,but your probably best replacing both ,591231 is part nomber for slave cylinder and 550732 is part number for master cylinder both fairly cheap

thanks, there are no obvious leaks around the pedal.

If I toip up the chamber would I stand a chance of at least being able to drive to the garage? Or would it need bleeding?

Also are brake and clutch fluid the same?

Excuse my embarassing ignorance.

fluid is the same as brake fluid ,you could certainely try filling and pumping pedal a few times it sometimes works

QUICK UPDATE

I got some brake fluid, topped it up and pumped for a while and the pedal pressure has returned to more or less as before.

Once I realised diff lock stick was in neutral and put it where it ought to be, the clutch is working again.

I guess I need to change the 2 cyclinder ASAP?

There is no obvious leak of the fluid I have just added, so I guess it is a slow leak, like I said I dont use the old girl every day anymore.

Any further advice much appreciated, and many thanks as alwaysd to the wealth of friendly knowledge on here.

i would get new cylinders ,but at least not stuck now keep some fluid with you till you get it fixed properly
