Hi.
The passenger side hub on my 1992 Geo Tracker jams when I try to turn
it to the "locked" position. I can only turn it about 1/3 of the
travel distance from "FREE" to "LOCK" when it jams solid, and I can't
move it.
The garage told me the spring is broken, but I found an article on
rebuilding an Aisin hub on www.off-road.com, which shows the hub has 2
springs, so I don't think they really know what they are talking about
when it comes to the hubs.
Any ideas as to why this is happening and, more importantly, how to
fix it?
Are the bolts Metric or imperial? I tried to remove the hub myself,
but my 3/16" Allen wrench had a little play in it, and the second bolt
started to strip, so I stopped. The 7/32" was too big.
Can anyone tell me who is the OEM of the manual locking hubs for a 92
Tracker and where I might find instructions for dismantling and
re-assembling it?
Thanks is advance
Ian
