Hi folks,

Just got to the reception venue of todays wedding and the battery warning light came on and stays on when I switch the engine off. Nothing lights up when the engine is running. Was not doing this when I left the house this morning. Had a quick look nothing obvious is hanging off but ain't got much time and only so much you can do in a suit! I'm the a photographer in case you wondered about the wedding bit lol!

It's a 200Tdi Disco by the way ('93) thought if I ask now might have an idea where to start looking tomorrow!

Thanks folks!

Battery light on is usually a sign of the alternator going and it may have a diode away in the rectifier unit which is allowing the battery to discharge slowly when the vehicle is switched off.

Check your alternator out first of all.

Just what Sprintmaker said, I was unsure untill a thread on this fault came up a few weeks a go. Replace the diode pack, easy if u know how or get a replacement alternator.

Search and u may find the thread.

Thank for the responce guys, just got back from the wedding and on the way back battery light is now on while engine is running but goes off now when I switch the engine off! Excact opposite of what was happening earler. Checked everything I can in the dark, my brothers got my tester! Always the bloody way when you need something aint it! But I'm now thinking more like Alternator than diode unless you think it could still be?

Thanks again,

Sky
