Hi I have done a search but can't find the answer.

I got in it the other day and the steering was very heavy, but when I turned it the PAS fluid was coming out the top of the reservoir so now it's empty....... Any ideas?

Cheers

Ok just to update I just went out to it and put some LR cold climate PAS fluid in, so when I drive it slow the steering is not to bad but when it's not moving it feels like if I try to turn it it may brake something?..

I assume you havent filled the reservoir up to the top? If its coming out when you turn then there's possibly a blockage somewhere or a seal has gone causing a blockage

When you filled the PS reservoir, did you bleed the system?

Before the steering went 'heavy' did it make a kind of squealing noise?

Have you got any wet patches either around the pump or the steering box?

think i did lock to lock for a bit then open nipple with a tube going into res

If there's air in the system they generally need to be bled by opening the nipple on top of the steering box, otherwise the box can develop an air lock inside.

To do this, start the engine and turn to full LH lock and let go of the steering wheel. Bleed until clean fluid comes out, then do the same on the other side.

Do not hold at full lock for more than a second or two otherwise you can damage the pump.

This will bleed and prime the system.

Catch any fluid in a clean container as it could have air suspended in it.

Try lubricating the universal joints on the steering column. i had a similar problem a few years ago especially if i hit a puddle. Regular dousing in wd40 did the trick.
