Hi All....if anyone is considering one of these I can't recommend it highly enough. I had one fitted recently and it makes a huge difference to the driving experience....engine pulls lovely and "low down" in the rev range as opposed to revving away. Expensive job to get done, since the gearbox has to come out, but should give a fuel saving a result of less revving, so it would probably pay for itself over time.

Hi Tom, was this the TC that is marketed by Ashcrofts, or another supplier?

Dave

Dave....Ashcroft engineering one.

That's the one most peeps are fitting although 1 or 2 have gone for a std 4.0 v8 one.

Did you have the flex plate replaced at the same time?

When Ashcrofts first came with this I tried a modified TD5 auto by comparison to my own re-mapped TD5, honestly there was no comparison. My engine was producing more power but a significant part of it was being lost via the std TC which I think is useless and stupid by comparison to the HD one.

I've had one on my shopping list since I fitted a 2.8TGV. Fabulous motor - can't imagine what it would be like without half the power being sapped by the original mini 300Tdi TC.

We fitted one in the brother in laws td5 auto completely changed the vehicle that was an Ashcroft as well.

Hi Dave yes replaced the flex plate as well while just to be on the safe side although the original looked ok but replaced it anyway.

Auf...I had the same feeling after remapping mine, removing the EGR and fitting a De-Cat + Sports air filter....all very well but the extra grunt was lost on the standard TC. With the bigger one it does a great job of grabbing the power much earlier on.

Sounds just what I need! A standard TGV has 135bhp and 277lb/ft. Mine has a K&N, full width intercooler and just one small Cherry Bomb centre silencer.

Just need the cash now!
