Hello all, I have a little problem with the fan on the heater. Display works and when switching I can hear various clicks etc but no fan working. Tried all settings no fan. If I leave on, the fan will suddenly come on on its own and I can adjust the speed of the fan all ok. Any ideas on this would it be the resistor pack I have read about. Thanks

Is this from start up? If it's heater fans will only come on when temp sensor on heater pipe detects warmth. Fans are electronically controlled no resistor packs.

Fans on mine come on from cold but only at low speed, speed goes up when the heater temperature sensor detects warmth.:)

Yes that is correct, i was surmising that the OP was missing the low speed part of the function. :);)

Thanks for replys Wammers and Datatek. It looks like no fan at all, a bit of a problem when you have 4 people in the car and the windows steam up and then out of nowhere the fan comes on but a bit to late. This can be when the car has been driving for 15 minutes. I don't know if this is coincedence but when I went over a bump in the road the fan came on?. I think this looks like a loose connection, just wondering where to look.

Got almost the same prob... changed motors. fuse box ,relays and tried another control panel...Nada.. Oddly, when doing something else , I connected the battery in pos2 on ignition.....fans ran full blast ...slowed and speeded up on demand But when I turn them off they dont start again:confused:

Fans will run slow until the temp sensor detects heat in the metal pipe it is connected to at R/H side of heater under the dash. Check that fans run slow if they do check this sensor. If fans don't run slow on start up. Check fuses 34 and 43 and relays 6 and 7.

Connections all clean and good....it has done the same with 2 Becm ...
My fans dont run at all :-:)(
BECM is nothing to do with the fans, they are controlled from the HEVAC. Speed control is electronic and does fail as do the motors often due to worn brushes.

No, works when it wants to, turn it up turn it down, nothing. Leave it on and then hey presto on it comes, always when the windows are clear though:confused2:
Check the connectors on the back of the HEVAC and if you are brave check in the HREVAc for bad solder joints.

My drivers side fan runs full tilt all the time, have removed the relay for now. HVAC is the last area of my car that needs sorting to have it up to scratch. I have changed the blend motors but evaporator needs refitting and then the AC putting back together, unfortunately is has been fiddled with at the electrics under the bonnet, not looking forward to this.......

What happend to those simple vehicles. Still if it was'nt for p38 no one would be on here and we would have nothing to do in our spare times:beer2:
