Just completed restoring an old 3.5 V8, running on carbs. 1976

It is a nightmare to start first thing. Once warmed up starts straight away. I have checked timing and runs beautifully on the road once going. New dizzy, coil, leads and plugs. Have not touched carbs!!?

Any specific ideas/thoughts? Anyone seen this before? Is it common?
