my freelander td4 52 plate!!! was all well and good managed to get two bags of shopping home in 2cm of snow then battery went flat lost all power /no battery light on /no warning light /got bumped off tc light and all yellow lights/now recharged battery /starts first time/ but smokes and smells of diesel now battery light is on
somebody help please .

If your battery light is on with the engine running, this normally means faulty alternator.

Indeed......or slipping (tensioner issue) or broken belt.

Yep battery clearly isn'y getting any juice . I agree with the others.
