Have 1997 'R' plate standard 300 TDi with about 180k on clock. Have found slack on front prop at diff end, all prop shaft UJ's AOK, have been told it's the diff at fault. Get noise when driving, after taking foot off gas, reduces when foot goes back down. car is in 16" wheels by the way. It seems a simple diff replacement would cure, but it's not as simple as it sounds, as the half shafts have to be disengaged before the diff can be removed. My question is - Whats the easiest method of getting the half shafts out of the diff ?
