Before both barrels start getting fired I should remind everyone that the Flndr was the wife's and we have gone for full hairdresser upgrade and got an 04 Grand Vitara (incoming fire expected!). Meanwhile I'll keep driving my ever so dull but comfy and reliable Omega. Will keep looking in now and agin to see if I can help with naive peeps like myself who thought "well its a LR it must be alright, no need to do any research" (ooh the pains is starting again)

On the contrary, new generation Suzuki vitara looks the part, better styling than the FL2, plus you get a choice of 3dr/5dr and engine spec, not to mention low ratio box
and change out of the starting price of the FL2.Think Taipan was the last person to head down the Vitara route, we havent heard from him since. Probably, driving off into the great unknown and having the time of his life

As I said, expected incoming fire
. From my experience I would say to all new owners of elderly (shall we say) Flealanders (hopefully newer ones are better) your experience will be a little less painless if you:don't use electric rear window (for fear of it getting stuck either in up or down position)
take fuse out of electric sunroof as it is bound to come off rails (then silicone seal it as it will probably leak anyway)
gaffer tape up wingmirrors as they explode when banged against anything and otherwise you'll run over bits as they fall off.
leave rear cubby box open at all times to dry out damp
place seatbelt clips in gently as plastic brittle and comes off and jams inside mechanism
get ready to replace rheostat thingy which controls heater blower settings 1-3
check coolant level and signs of oil in coolant on hourly basis (every 1/2 hour if actually driving the car anywhere apart from to and from a garage)
Take some gratification from innocents who still say how they would like one of those and it must be good to have something as reliable as a Landrover (then sell it to them quickly
)
