Morning all,

Just wanted to say 'hi' and try and get some of your expert knowledge and advice on jumping into the Land Rover world. I've recently moved back to the UK and looking at purchasing a 3 Series to use as a bit of a hobby project, but also as a general short distance run around (rural area), my limited research has drawn me to a 3 Series, SWB, hard top, diesel.

I would really appreciate if anyone could give advice on things to look out for, general issues, rough price and any other pointers that could be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Dan, Gloucestershire

Pending on how deep your pockets are and how far a project you want to look at. Series models can be a tart with no knickers. To get a run of the mill bog standard oddly, can demand a higher price because the owner cared enough to keep it on the road. Whilst other choice the sacrilege route of engine upgrades or replacement wide wheels etc. worthy place to talk to are Landrover clubs dotted around near you. Ex military vehicles can still be sorted but again a pricey avenue as owners want the originality. Barn finds and auction sites as are farmers discarded in a hedge finds. And I've not mentioned finding one you like on site but rotten to the core underneath. There lots of very experienced people here to guide the right direction for you.
