Just noticed that the 'Glow Plug' warning light on the dash display (Defender TD5) does not light up when when the key in the ignition is turned to position 2.

No idea how long it has been like that for :confused2:, but am thinking that it may have something to do with the battery drain problems that I am also experiencing, so does anyone know what could cause this light to fail, and is the failure likely to be something that could be causing the battery to drain??

try changing the bulb !! or use a multimeter check feed at glowplugs !!easy eh !!!

Will be doing that today!!

More interested in establishing the cause particularly as i have a battery drain problem and wondered if anyone has had a experience?

Yep!

Glows are controlled by the ECU.

I'd put my meter on the glow cabling first and see if they are getting juice.
If not I'd suspect the relay.
