Hi there,

CarlV8 and I have been out in his Discovery 1 this weekend, and one thing I have noticed is it's a little short on legroom from the drivers seat. I'm 6' tall, so have reasonably long legs but hardly excessively so, yet my knees seem to be up in the steering column and I can stretch my legs out.

Is there anything that can be done, just to get an extra inch of legroom? I know often it's just a case of swapping/moving the seat runners about, just seeing if there's a quick fix.

I'd say your seat ain't going back far enough, I'm 6'2" and have no probs I don't even have the seat all the way back.
 
OK, lets look at it another way. Is there anything a previous owner could have done to get the seat sitting further forward? As I cannot see a way it will slide back any further!

take the seat out and move the rails back a bit, not sure if you can do this but it only takes a few mins to remove the seat and have a look.
 
Have either of you driven any other discos? They are all the same so if this one feels differant may be a previos poor repair ect. Is it 3 or 5 door?
 
Have seen problems with the three door ones, more to go wrong. How do you find pass seat, does it go further back than drivers?
 
Hi Mike, hope you and Carl both well and enjoying the Disco, apart from the legroom...

I'm about the same height as you and always used to run with the seat as far back as it would go and don't recall feeling cramped like you describe.

It's amazing how quickly you forget though.........I also can't remember if the seat's height was adjustable???? as this would push your legs up towards the steering column.....

I'm 6'4 and have ok leg room, my problem is that I sit too high, so would like a way to actually lower the seat a good inch or so...as my seat ain't hight adjustable (1996 5 door 300 tdi) - is there anyway to lower the seat? Or is it a case to fit new seats runners etc?
