My 95 Gems engine number on the V5 has nine digits.Looking on the block it appears to have seven stamped ,ommitting the first two shown on the V5.
Above the number is another number which looks like 35:1.Is the normal?.:confused:
I have to have it reregistered here and they check the engine number against the registration document.
 
top number is compression ratio,should read 9.35.1 ,engine number first 2 numbers are called the prefix and denote engine type eg 40d ------- the last seven numbers are specific to engine
