Afternoon All

I need to replace my clutch soon, and was wondering while the gearbox is out, what else should I replace at the same time? Obviously, as it's going to be fairly expensive (putting it in to a independent garage), I don't want to have to do this again for a long time, so can anyone recommend particular suppliers of quality parts that will last. Within reason, money isn't too much of an issue... I'd rather put good quality parts in now rather than scrimp on cheap parts and regret it later.

The car is a 2004 TD5 (unmodded) with 84k miles on the clock.

a new spigot bush lfb500050, new dual; mass flywheel as well as the clutch kit id get valeo

in addition to the aboves if you can afford and you know it's old i'd say to put at least a new slave cylinder but better a master too cos the slave when it's old the seal in it bends against the internal wear's margin on removal and it will be very hard or impossible to bleed well... or ask the mechanics to release the fluid before they release the slave cos some of them won't, putting only new slave it will be easy to bleed but the master cylinder if it has the same age will be stressed by the extra strenght of the slave and fail soon... i've learnt that the hard way so you don't have to ... that's not compulsory as long as after the clutch change it's easy to bleed but if it isn't or you get hard gearchange you'll have to do that anyway

btw... for cylinders get Delphi or TRW and a new pushrod FTC5199 which is cheaper than chips would definitely not hurt

Thanks very much for the advice. I've done a bit a trawling on the Internet and found the following parts. If anyone knows of a better supplier (or cheaper!), please can you let me know. Also, will the clutch release fork need replacing? My mechanic suggested that over time they can bend slightly...

td5 clutch fork is a solid cast lump, tdi levers were pressed steel and had the tendency to allow pivot to wear through them, pewrsonally iwouldnt change the slave and master unless you know they are poor, you should quite easily be able to remove and refit without needing to bleed the system, and having box out doesnt make there changing any easier

Did my TD5 clutch and flywheel last year I used Valeo, found a good deal at Calder clutch company.
They do re man clutches but I did not want to risk this so I called them and asked for the price of a new clutch flywheel, may be worth giving them a call just to check what they can offer.

Rear crankshaft seal is worth doing when the flywheel is off

20 quid or so for a genuine one

what ever you decide to buy, take them all from the same supplier, island4x4 has good prices but they miss some OE or genuine bits from time to time, the best ''equipped'' with all kind of parts i found to be lrdirect and also theyr customer support is the best

Unless anyone else can suggest anything else, I think it's time to go shopping.

Thanks again for all your help guys. I'm happy enough to enjoy driving my Disco, but when things go wrong or I need any advice, I'm glad I can get honest help on here.
