300 tdi 90 n reg
I am getting a rattle from either tranny or gearbox when at low speed on low revs it rattles like hell but when under load or at speed it is ok
Have changed the oils 2 weeks ago and it helped for 100 mile but then was back again.

any ideas?

my hand brake used to rattle like a bitch at any speed, get a spanner on the adjuster and wind it out a little, it might help and it don't cost owt as a first place to look.

its not coming from the props, or the handbrake so yes sounds like a gear noise

a rattle covers many options ,often removing one prop at a time and trying in diff lock can help isolate ,you could drop transfer box sump and check gears and bearings for free play , intermediate gear often has play which can cause noise ,it can be adjusted carefully with 30 mm socket and bar on its shaft nut by tightening it till you can fel free play has been removed,
