Were it me I'd be going for a tin of Galvafroid or something like it. Having used products like this they come up way too shiny for me - and that stuff is aluminium not zinc.

If you can find cold galvanizing or the like I think you'll find it a better match once it weathers/oxidizes a bit.

I will confess I have taken a torch to worn galvy with a stick of aluminum solder (nearly pure zinc) and soldering flux and recoated the rusted bits - but then again I'm a madman.

Galvfroid well mixed has protected a galv roof rack I altered mounts on for van
 
So long as it doesn't look out of place on the cappings - I always think they look a bit naff when they're too shiny!
