Hi all,
when taking off my fuel filler cap I get quite a lot of pressure build up. Is this normal or are there some tank vents that are blocked? If so are they an easy repair/fix?

many thanks,
itchy.

If it's a petrol there is a valve in the emissions system that is supposed to open and vent excess pressure into the induction system. Maybe that is sticking or not working. Look at RAVE for details.

Hi Wammers,
I've been away for a couple of weeks and have only just caught up with your reply. Thanks for the info and i'll check out RAVE as suggested.:beer2:

I know this is a bit of a daft question, and sorry for jacking the post, but if that said valve is faulty, could that induce bad running?

I doubt it, pressure in the tank is normal on modern petrol cars as venting to the atmosphere is not allowed, there is always considerable pressure in the MR2 tank especially on a warm day.:)
