hi guys. attached are some photos of what im assuming is the fuel filter housing at the off side rear of my defender. noticed a smell of fuel yesterday, and today catch a glimpse of a few drops of fuel falling from the bottom of this housing once i'd switched the engine off. i only got the defender 3 weeks ago and its still under warranty for another 10 days, but is it worth the cost (£40 round trip) of taking this back to get fixed? in effect what im asking is what could be causing this (worst case). thanks

well it looks like the filter may be slack or the seal is bad . a new filter should fix it . if you leave it it will only leak more and could cause you to break down

try a new filter first as they do often fail. It is also common for the filter housing to crack so have a good look over it while you are chanfing the filter.

Exactly the same happened to my brothers TD5 defender last month. The filter was loose. Nipped it up, no probs.

If / when you do change it give the area a blast with a pressure washer first :) , might be an idear to tell the place you got it from that its leaking and your changing the filter yourself just incase its the unions that are leaking and you have to take it back to them .
