Just needs two 9/16" spanners. (Or the fancy special tool type 9/16" socket thing as a normal one won't go on). Did the job in France on the front parking area. Just helps to jack one wheel up so you can rotate the prop.
And either to spend time cleaning up the bolts and putting threadlock on them, or new nyloc nuts and bolts, although you won't be able to get the bolts from the Tranny box end out anyway!

you can replace the tranny end bolts if you have a very big set of circlip pliers, like these

Tis one of those really useful special tools that you use occasionally and have to spend three days looking for each time. You know you put it somewhere safe...where you wouldn't forget....but....

I will get one of those for when I refit an overhauled HD jointed one made from the worn out one.
To be honest cost of garage minus tool prices not too bad. As to them easy job.
They are 2 to 3 miles away and specialise in land rover.
I am known there. A parts lady at main dealer knows me (ex MM). And Rob at Astwood.
I am known as the ACE converted D2 owner.
Rob has joked about fitting non ACE bars due to a fluid leak st MOT I just wiped pipe and nipped up a joint

In my humble opinion, you need to get yourself a decent set of tool to fix your Land rover unless of course you have deep pockets to keep paying the garage bills....

I do but all metric. I do most jobs myself, but I do know when to garage it, no suitable tools, cold weather and dark early is a good reason.
Last year I replaced all the brakes, 5 years ago I rebuilt the ACE system, I have done injector seals, sunroof leaks, jammed CDL lever, jammed windows, all but one door lock, repaired with new switches and cases the keyfobs. Drop links a few times. All but one oil change (broken ankle). Hubs after a disaster at a different garage failing it at MOT and messing up ABS (fitted one myself been fine since.) Also fitted cruise. I just know when to bail out.
Just need to know your garages.
I have new headlights to go on but still need some clips and bolts, will do that myself.
Garaged it for the following, normally Astwood or MM4x4. When commuting I pass Astwood unless I go on the B.O.A.T. parallel to the main road,
Welding
Steering box
Gearbox pipe burst near work
MOTs (well you have to)
Starter motor (that cost £20 labour, to me worth every penny, while it was at the garage (was sitting there a couple of hours first) I did a few hours work and got paid a lot more than that.)
Next year I will do the radiator and intercooler.

What was odd was that I was told at MOT it was on last legs.
I found no play in it, also slightly quieter today as I had to take a trip. May be distance related as noisy when commuting.
Very odd, but the garage can check it, not looking forwards to next job got a worn ACE bush on front, may chuck my spare ram on at same time, but it can wait until spring as no long trips until May

When I did my ACE ram bushed I posted it on this forum, you can do it on the car you have to remove the antiroll bar to do it, and dont forget to put the new bush in the freezer for 24 hres it realy does help, check out my post
