Evening.
Just bought an 05 Freelander commercial (diesel auto) mainly for taking the nippers bikes out / fishing / when the dog rolls in fox poop etc.

I had a new discovery van built in 1998, loved it. Kept it 3 years, which for me is an eternity.

I've done a "man" search on a couple of items in the forums, but got a bit lost.
Apologies for being a newbie.

A) when I pull the gear selector to the right to engage sport mode, the display on the dash does not change - despite a lot of pushing back n forth. There is a red light on the gear selector case where is says sport/m. Any thoughts ? Expensive to fix ?

B) The black roof rails have a worn finish. Just wondered if they are easy to get off and if so what's best way to prep/refinish them.

The one I just bought has 119,000 miles on it, but seems to drive pretty well, but other than a good ear for rattles/squeaks (couldn't hear any), I'm a bit of a divot when it comes to vehicles.

Hi.

Mark

Just had oil change done at kwikfit today (after reading about this on the forum).
I watched a fitter spend 2 hrs beavering away at this. He came inside and said £34 please mate. First time I've ever smiled whilst holding an invoice to do with a vehicle.

I'm usually having a rare up along the lies of "£92 just for the supply of the oil !" you thieving fecks when our cars are serviced.

They didn't make a lot out of that £34.... :)
