hey people ,

fitted a new stereo into my tdi200 , it caught a live sparked n popped a fuse , so i fixed the issue causing the spark , changed the fuse but now the interior light doesnt work , the clock resets everytime i open the door and the stereo dont work , but iv no blown fuses ,

im not too bad with vehicle electrics etc but alittle stumped , (bit dark to start investigating) anybody had a similar incident ?

thanks peeps ,

Gricey

200tdi only has one fusebox

Interior lights are on same fuse as clock. There's a possibility you've got a fusible link problem, strip the loom back near the battery and see if you can find them. Theyre a bit of a mystery in general so do a search!

Find the fuse that is for the towing electrics. That is the one which causes those problems.
In a 300 it's fuse 6 in the satellite fuse box 2 (20amp) but that is not much use to you!!!!

This will give you an idea

If you have replaced the B1 5amp fuse for radio memory, interior light and clock then as the Chief Dude above said look at the fusable link and next time disconnect the battery it can save a load of hassle. :)

the fuse i replaced was b9 , pulled all fuses in the box and none blown ,

problem i have now is the stereo and clock work with the door closed still no interior light , open the door or turn the interior light on and the clock and stereo turn off ,

had many electrical faults but never this lol , ill do a bit more investigation thru the loom but nothing looks bad atm , where are the earth points to check ?

thanks for all the help other then this problem im loving disco ownership

When the door is closed, there is no earth supplied to the interior lamp (unless you press the button which supplies forced earth) and when the door is open the switch contacts the body, allows earth to the lamp and the lamp illuminates.

I would remove both interior lamp units, disconnect them and check that you have the correct polarities at the plug. Leave them unplugged whilst you try to she's the issue, they will only confuse the circuit.

Good thing about a 200 is the wiring is VERY simple.

And FFS post your location in your info bar, then people know if you are local if they want to help.

Cheers.

Haynes manual has all the diagrams and they are easy to figure out.

lovely thanks mate

yeah i join alot of forums and usually just lurk about without posting so rarely update , but as people here are helpfull ill get on with the whole shebang asap :D

so a quick question my B1 fuse has blown as above is that to do with the stereo ? the diagram is hard to see. 200tdi. something killed the battery overnight and it's hard to see what's causing it. if I replace the fuse the stereo should work ?

As above then the towing fuse in B4 15amp can I use that as a 5 amp as a temp fix ? Might sound silly but it's electrics and not my thing.
