I've installed a new ariel into our 90. I managed to fish the cable through to behind the dials but struggling to get it behind the radio.

Anyone got any tips?

I'm considering removing the lower dash.
How easy is it to remove?

I did this a couple of years ago. I wasted a lot of time trying to get the cable through without dismantling the dash, but eventually I did so and it was a whole lot easier. Just lots of screws - try and remember where they came from, because there are several different sizes. It's not hard, just fiddly.

I tried to remove all the screws but the lower dash just wouldn't come.
I removed the speakers and the two ducts.

Is there something I'm missing?

The lower-dash also has a seal to the bulkhead (behind the heater), if you have removed ALL the fixings then it might just be the adhesive seal but don't forget to replace it afterwards.

When it comes the aerial I found many years ago that it is best to fit a flylead between head-unit and the underbonnet area so aerial replacement takes just a few minutes and doesn't involve routing around behind the dash, available from any car accessory store.

I just fed it thry the top of the dash with a cable rod to the ashtray hole, then poked it down thru the plastic grille to the radio (I used a stanley to cut a couple of slats out for ease )

If it won't come off, have you removed the 2 bolts round the back holding it to the bulkhead? i had the same problem, exept mine would not come off, they snapped. To get to them, i think you need to take the top part of the dash apart to get to 'em.

I am wondering slightly why you want to remove the lower dash to run the cable, behind the instrument cluster is where you really need to be.
