Hi I'm hoping for some knowledge!
Just changed the exhaust manifold. With the manifold I ordered the bolt/stud kit but the bolts that arrived are different to the ones removed so I've had to re-use the old ones which isn't ideal cos they ain't in great condition!
Manifold and bolt kit both Bearmach. Car is a 1983 series 3 petrol with the 5 bearing engine. Anyone know if there are different kits available? The threads on the bearmach kit are slightly finer, not a massive difference though. Cheers.

presumably kit you got is unf for pre 1980 engines and not metric ,bolts are available as individual parts

Ahh didn't realize they changed i assumed the engine would have remained the same.
Seems to be a mixture of old stuff and metric all over the car!
Many thanks for the info il have a search for the metric ones.

Hi Innzy,
I have this job to do. Did you do anything to the bolts before getting them out? I'm a bit worried about breaking one or more.
Cheers Toby

Hi Toby, I gave em a good soak in wd40 type stuff the day before and they came out no probs. Much easier than I was expecting anyway. Think mine had been out fairly recently though they weren't that tight so go gentle!

The older imperial studs will appear to have a finer thread. There are brass nuts that fit these.

Yeah the studs and nuts I got for the manifold/downpipe are brass they fit fine it's the bolts going into the head that are wrong.
Trying to locate some metric ones now. The kit for the early defender 90 looks identical in the pics and I guess could be metric.
Cheers.
