Freelander 2 SD4 XS 2.2l diesel automatic 2013
I have a very unsightly Back box on my exhaust visible from the rear of my car. It is tarnished and stained.
What base metal is used for my exhaust eg ‘stainless steel’? What can I do to clean it up ?

Stainless steel isn't a base metal.

most back boxes are just coated steel.

Clean it up with a wire brush, sandpaper (something abrasive) and spray it with High Temp paint.
Silver looks like metal so seems natural choice, black would be better and easier to source. Stone chip would prolly work

Or ask int FL section on how to get a new one.
