B baz58 New Member May 23, 2015 #1 The engine temperature gauge on my defender always runs goes through the red. It had an engine swap from 200 to 300tdi, do I just need to change the engine sensor or do I need to replace the gauge (on the dash) also.

tottot Well-Known Member May 23, 2015 #2 Likely just the sensor,but why not fit a proper gauge with numbers on it in degrees C and know exactly what the temp is.

NiallRussell Well-Known Member May 23, 2015 #3 worth maybe checking the wires to it too. I second the vote for a digital gauge, so much better. but it was playing up due to loose wires.
