ok im rebuilding my engine, first time on a disco, i know the basics but turn to forums for advice from time to time, anyways, i got my block back today from getting rebored and rehoned, i have fitted new piston rings and refitted pistons, i was just cleaning up some of the bolts, and came across a variation on the oil squirt bolts, they all have little springs in them with what i presume is ball bearings inside,

my question is are these bolts supposed to be sealed shut in there normal state or open?, (im thinking shut and oil pressure holds them open, if they constantly open i maybe losing oil pressure?)

i only ask because i have 1 that is shut and 3 that are open

? did you gap rings with there respected bores , where new pistons sent with block so bores were rebored to piston size oil squirts do have ball and spring and should just be fitted with the 2 copper washers ,loctite helps ,they need to be open to cool pistons once running, fit new ones they are important
