hi there guys, went to change the oil in my 200 tdi disco the other day but i cant for the life of me get it undone. does anyone know the exact size of the plug. i used a 30mm socket but it seemed ever so slightly to big and halfrauds dont sell a 28mm or 29mm :( does anyone have any advice on getting the little sod undone?

cheers
james

if yer box is the same as this....

then the one on the left (wich is pointin' downwards when the box is in) is a WW 1/2. The other one on the right ah usually just use a big adjustable;) :D

cheers for that buster, very helpful. luckily the guy im doing it with has been working on landys for about 10 years and is a top guy. only charging me for the parts and i will also learn a fair bit from seeing it done. got to start somewhere havent ya

Nae probs Jim;) If it is the LT77 box ye've got, then just remember there's a filter in the back (left on pic) plug.
Once ye've seen it done then it'll be a piece of whatsits for when ye do it yerself the next time;) :D

Forgot to say, if ye look uptae the right a bit from my index finger, there's a square plug- that's the filler upperer one;) :D

think i read one of your how to posts before buster when you were explaining about filling the gearbox which helped alot, think you mentioned the filter in that. thanks again

Any chance of a 'how to' on changing the gear box and transfer box oils on a 1999 Disco, changing the engine oil is pish easy, but I've never changed the gear box oil on a car, done it on tractors so many times i could do them with my eyes shut....

Cos if you've got a good socket, bashing it on will reshape the nut to fit it. Hey presto, off it comes, and you've got a brand new metric nut. Whassyer problem? :D
