If i put a new engine in do i need to tell DVLA that i have done so.

same engine type? e.g fitting a new 300tdi in place of an old 300tdi of the same spec?

If you replace your engine with a like for like (say 200tdi with another 200tdi) then you should really tell them the engine number of the replacement engine so they can alter the records and also your V5.

Best to do this. If you sell in the future, a buyer may want to check the engine number against the V5 - best to be right.
