Hello gents;
I noticed today a knock from the bottom of the engine,it isn't loud and it dissapears when i accelerate,doesn't sound like a piston nor the oil pump,dunno if something is fooked in the bottom end (big end) but if it is the case will it still knock upon accelerating?
the heads are quite no tapping nothing,it isn't overheating,Slipped liners will do that sound also as i supose?but if they have slipped won't the engine use water or overheat?
i know it is difficult to know on the net here without proper inspection,what could knock also apart from the engine?like exhaust or something?on accelerating the engine is smooth and quite.
help gents
thank you

thank you

could well be a mount (gearbox or engine)
as from my experience the knocking got worse under load.
if it still pulls ok,just do a more thorough check for perished mounts,or exhaust

cheers roddy4 thank you,i know it is hard to pin point like that,it is going tomorrow for the inspection,hope it isn't the engine,it has 130000kms on the clock.

he might sue you if he does...
if he does sue me,he can't get anything because of the label sticked on the sump "caution not for drinking" Unless he is blind but he can still sniff it. :focus:

I think poor oil pressure might give that effect. Is it worse hot or cold? What grade oil do you use. Maybe thicker would help.

Think you need to be looking for a Rover V8 conrod catcher. In your part of the world you should have 20w 50 in it and don't let anyone tell you different.

Cheers gents
had it tested today turned out to be a rattling cat,now i have a dilema which is finding a second hand one in a good condition or even removing it but if i remove it and substitute it with normal mufflers i know something bad will happen in performance,what do you think?

i went to an exhaust garage today he said replacing the cat with regular mufflers will change the sound of the car it will be more rough,he will order second hand cats from a breaker it will take arround a week or so "if he finds them",if not i am left with the second option which is de-cating the fooker and baring the noise.
