Due to my own fault, I put a spanner in the dash and it shorted something out??
I turned the ign off as soon as I smelt burning and removed the spanner.
As a result my
Sterio
Indecators
Guages
Have stopped working
Checked fuses and it blown the second from bottom on R/H.
Replaced this but still nothing??

Any ideas welcome!

Has it used the main wire as a fuse before the fuse blow, mine melted the whole thing.

Have any relays died?

Wiring melted - although you'd hope fuse blowing would have saved

How do you check relays?
Wires look ok TBH but without close inspection can't tell?

what year/engine is it?

check the hazard light switch hasn't melted.

also check the engine bay fuse box.

Right relay works hazard switch isn't melted and works.
Been told brake lights don't work either! And oil light constantly on??

There is a multi plug behind the sterio with 4 pins on it
Green/green
White
Purple/purple
Light green/light green,dark green.

When I put 12v into green green everything worked

But now it keeps blowing the fuse as soon as I turn on the ign??
And won't let me put 12v up its ass??

Using power probe so safe

Think there are some other connectors up behind the dash - think they're called 'head connectors' - wonder if one of those has melted

Seen threads a while back about folks struggling to find faults and eventually tracing it to these - certainly sounds like something is shorting

I have them ****ty LED lights so have a different relay for indicators, when theses lights get a sniff of water they don't work!!
Will this be the problem?

purpkle would be 12v feed for clock and interior lights ,white is ignition live ,green is ignition feed from fuses lgg is feed for oil temp not often fitted green wire also links to green feed for stop lamps ,fuel guage ,oil pressure switch etc i should imagine between your plug and fuses its shorted

This is giving me a headache!!
Took the clocks out and then everything works?

But trailer light constantly on??
Does any1 know what will cause this?

Not ignoring you but no, not really.

Logically 2 or more wires (or a connector) may have melted allowing current to flow across circuits. The fact that the fuses don't blow with the gauges out may suggest that it is through those circuits that it was shorting to earth

If trailer lamp is now lighting, I'd trace the wire back from that dash warning light - if necessary all the way to the fuse box - and see if you encounter any melted, chaffed or damaged cables/connectors

Working as it should now?
Trailer light has been on for a couple of months??
